Opening keynote: Baljeet Sandhu

About Baljeet

Baljeet Sandhu (she/her) is a UK human rights lawyer and Visiting Fellow at the Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship at the University of Oxford. Her core interests span human rights, social innovation and social and economic justice. She is the CEO of the Centre for Knowledge Equity, founding director of the Migrant & Refugee Children’s Legal Unit, and co-founder of the Lived Experience Leaders Movement (LEx Movement). She is a global thought leader on the value and power of lived experience in social and environmental impact work, including the development of the Lived Experience Leadership framework during her time at Yale University and supporting the design of TNLCF Leaders with Lived Experience Fund, where she continues to act as a learning partner.

Baljeet is also a founding partner of Kid in Need of Defense UK, and the 2027 Talent Programme, a collaboration with leading UK organisations and funders to diversify the UK philanthropic sector and bring community power into grant giving. She has served as a Special Adviser to the UK Children’s Commissioner; the UK Home Office Children’s Asylum and Immigration sub-committee and has also served as an Expert Advisor to the Strategic Legal Fund for Vulnerable Young Migrants, where she helped shape and inform the design of an innovative funding program for strategic litigation and policy work in the UK. In recognition of her work, she was honoured with the 2017 DVF International Award during the Women in the World Conference at the United Nations.
